WebThe array is read out by two Raytheon SBRC 190 cryogenic multiplexers that also provide a CTIA (capacitive transimpedance amplifier) unit cell for each detector. We are conducting a series of tests to measure the array performance and to evaluate its suitability for airborne astronomy and report here preliminary results. WebMIRSI is uniquely suited for studies of young stellar objects and star formation, planetary and protoplanetary nebulae, starburst galaxies, and solar system objects such as planets, asteroids, and comets. The camera utilizes a new 320 x 240 Si:As Impurity Band Conduction (IBC) array developed for ground-based astronomy by Raytheon/SBRC.

WebThe MIRSI system is based on a new 320x240 Si:As IBC array recently developed for ground-based astronomy by Raytheon/SBRC (formerly Hughes/SBRC). Astronomical Research Cameras, Inc. implemented the original array controller and software, which we have improved and customized for infrared observations. WebWe develop and test a variety of different detectors at the University of Rochester. Our two main areas of interest are: InSb array detectors, sensitive to light between 0.6 to 5.3 microns, and produced by Raytheon (SBRC). HgCdTe array detectors, with cut-off wavelengths around 10 microns, and produced by Rockwell Scientific.
